My-Tamil Ring FAQs
What is My-Tamil Ring?
The My-Tamil Ring is a well-established ring of Tamil sites. By
surfing through the Ring, you will see a massive showcase of talent and a
tremendous variety of Tamil related sites. Whatever your surfing pleasure, there
is bound to be something for you.
"My-Tamil" Ring group Tamil related homepages.
Navigation code on each site allow you to move from one site to the next,
allowing one to (eventually) traverse the entire ring and end up where they
started. Each site is a link in the chain.
Once we accept your membership, then your site will be
added as a link in a big chain of Tamil homepages structured in a circular
fashion. All members are inter-connected through a My-Tamil Ring Navigation
Palette.
How does My-Tamil Ring work?
A fragment of HTML code inserted in each member page is the
connecting link between all the member pages. Once you add the html fragment
given to you while you register, you will find a ring palette in your page. This
palette act as the control center for navigation and controls the journey from
one member page to another in a circular fashion. In essence, the links on each
site in the ring provide a means for the ring database to know what site the
user is coming from, and where they want to go. (ie, next site, prev site,
etc....)
By having the proper information on each site (ring id, site
id#) the database then checks to see which "My-Tamil Ring" site is
next in line. When the user clicks on one of these links, ring will search the
database for the proper information and then send the user to the url of the
next site in the ring. The same goes for the list option. The ring will call up
a list of all the sites currently in the ring from the database, according to
the ring id that was in the link. The random function works in much the same
way. But when it gets the id#, it makes sure that the random number that is
chosen will not be the current site.
