So much bitterness had crept in among the main players of the new film 'Vettaiyadu Vilayaadu' that when the film was finally ready for premiere, the hero, Kamalhasan was not even present! After so many hurdles that nearly threatened the fate of the film, 'Vettaiyadu Vilayaadu' finally managed to get ready for release. The premiere of its Tamil version was held in Chennai during a star-studded function. Almost all the leading stars had turned up for the event. Kamalhasan was not present! It turns out that earlier that day Kamalhasan filed a complaint against the film's producer, 7th Channel Narayanan, saying that the cheque given by him had bounced. Finally, after the intervention of Actors' Guild president, the issue was temporarily resolved.

'Bheema' is almost complete and Vikram has confirmed that his next film is going to be with producer Kalaipuli S Dhanu. Search is now on for a director. There were talks that the producer had approached Ramgopal Varma to direct Vikram in the new film. Ramgopal Varma has got his fingers in so many pies that he was unable to give an immediate consent. But he says that directing an actor like Vikram who has a versatile image, is something that he'd look forward to. He assured that he'd love to work with Vikram if his 'Sholay' schedules permit him to.

Statistics show that more and more young people between the ages of 15 and 29 in the city are committing suicide. Among the most common causes are parental pressure, failure in relationships and failure in exams. For instance, 15-year-old Sangeetha consumed acid because her mother scolded her for playing instead of studying. “Don’t ever try this, what I have done to myself. If your mother scolds you, be calm and don’t take a step like this,” said Sangeetha, Student. According to the police a growing number of cases of suicide attempts are being reported in Chennai.

The first electoral rolls with photos of voters in Tamil Nadu has been released here, where a byelection is due for the Madurai Central Assembly seat. District collector T Udhayachandran released the rolls in the presence of city Corporation Commissioner D.J.Dinakaran here last evening, an official release said here today. The Collector said this was the first electoral rolls with photos to be released in the state. There are 1,34,913 voters -- 67,825 men and 67,086 women -- in the constituency.

An altercation between Krishnamurthy and Higher Education Minister K Ponmudi caused pandemonium in the House and led to the Speaker ordering the eviction of the AIADMK members. Bader Sayeed said the Speaker should ensure that the privilege of the members was not violated by the sergeants and protect the dignity of MLAs.However, the Speaker said the sergeants evicted AIADMK members following his order.
