Tamil hero Simbu films doing well in Andhra
Monday, July 10, 2006 | Nayan

One can't understand why tamil dubbed films are doing well here even if they haven't been a success in chennai. Since Simbhu's Manmadha was a hit, our producers feel the actor has capacity to rake in some collections in andhra too. Before Manmadha, Simbhu had no hits absolutely. Kovil is one of the stupid films he had worked in, now it's being dubbed and released 'Rudrudu'. These days we can't predict which will run or which will collapse at the BO, especially dubbed films.

It has become a top hit in 75 years of telugu film history. Pokiri is being remade in tamil with Vijay as the hero and Prabhudeva as the director. Tamil film producer Ramesh has taken the remake rights of Pokiri for a crore and a half and he is being mobbed with fancy price offers. Buyers are showing enthusiasm to take it on record rates as they have studied the market situation here. Let's hope it becomes a big hit and saves our buyers and distributors too.

Though Arjun's Sivakasi didn't work at the box office here it got good reviews in chennai. The actor has put the past behind and is getting a fresh subject ready. Titled Vadayar the film will have telugu film "Ranam" heroine Kamna Jetmalani in the lead role of a heroine. Also he plans to rope in a villain from every language, tamil, telugu, malyalam and kannada for some sequence. He probably has thoughts to dub the film in all of the languages.

Kamal Hasan's "Ventaadu Vetaadu" in troubles
Wednesday, July 5, 2006 | Nayan

Problems are plaguing him ever since his magnum opus Marudayagan was announced. It was put off indefinitely for the lack of funds. Heard some french friends are bailing him out. Meanwhile Kamal and Gautham's film Ventaadu Vetaadu is stuck in the cans, his next Dasavatarm has paucity of heroines. If one heroine is available the other's dates don't match so he approached Vidya Balan of Parineeta fame but she too has date problems. Anyways, one hopes he finds his heroines soon.
