TN highest poll percentage 72.46
Thursday, May 14, 2009
Nayan: The highest-ever polling percentage - 72.46 per cent — in the last 25 years in Lok Sabha elections in the state is an indication of the enthusiasm with which people voted even in the searing heat in Tamil Nadu. "The high turnout could be due to anti-incumbency or due to huge turnout of young voters. There is anti-incumbency factor. But only the results will tell if it has translated into votes for the Opposition. I don't think pro-Eelam sentiment will turn into votes," says political commentator Cho S. aswamy.
