Salaries go up for govt staff

Tamil Nadu government has implemented the extension of the Sixth Pay Commission recommendations to its staff which is expected to benefit as many as 12 lakh government employees across the State.
The move will also benefit pensioners and those working on noon meal schemes who will also get allowances on House Rent and City Compensatory Allowance that will be doubled. The revised 30 percent hike in salaries would bring in an additional burden of Rs 5155.79 crore every year on the State govt and other expenditure on payment arrears. --MP
